This project was featured in ‘Houses’ magazine and was acclaimed as “a stunning example of modern building standards and fusion of new technologies’. The detailed design led to many challenges during construction phase.
A muscular off form concrete frame dominates the main structure including concrete columns and polished concrete floors.
The property consisted of 3 levels with major excavation work to accommodate the lower level. Recycled timber columns were used in conjunction with the concrete finishes.
The timber stairs lands on a broad concrete platform, overlooking a shallow pond which slips through the external glazing line and into the garden.
The property extensively uses glass for external walls and roof to flood the premises with ambient light. The clever use of timber helps disguise the double garage at the front of the building.
